Cryogenic Dark Matter Search: Experiment Results

CDMS had two WIMP candidate events. Due to the  sensitive nature of the detectors, high levels of background noise are present in the detectors. Therefore the events were not statistically significant enough to be claimed as actual WIMP events.

The CDMS detectors are being upgraded. The new detectors will be more massive and will have proportionately less surface area. The decreased surface area will reduce the proportion of background events.
